HE’s up there as one of the most prolific Scottish strikers EVER – even if he only turned out for his country 14 times.
Jordan Rhodes would maybe be more appreciated north of the border had played here – but instead he’s spent his entire career in the English league game.
And the 35-year-old is embarking on a new job today after calling time on an illustrious playing career which harvested a whopping 220 goals in the top four tiers of English football.
For reference, that’s six more English league goals than Wayne Rooney managed in the same period.
And it makes him the SIXTH most prolific Scot EVER in England.
He was most prolific between 2011 and 2016, with his 123 goals in 204 league matches in this period 33 more than any other player across England’s top four tiers during this period.

Okay, so those guys were playing at a higher level and had spells away from England but it’s still not a bad thing to tell the grandkids.
Rhodes saw out his playing days on loan at Mansfield from Blackpool but his most prolific spells were with Huddersfield, Blackburn and Sheffield Wednesday.
He’s staying in football as loans manager at Blackburn and is excited to get started.
He only scored three goals in the colours of Scotland after a prolific spell in the Under-21s, with a goal in his first start, a friendly against Australia at Easter Road.
Two goals also came in an away friendly win against Luxembourg.
After rejoining Blackburn in his new role, he said: “It’s great to be back – in a different capacity.
It has a really nice fit, kind of bridging that gap between finishing up playing and that next life.
“Both personally and professionally it has a really nice feel about it.
“That mentoring side of things is something I’ve been really keen to do since finishing up in football.”
