SCOTT McTOMINAY has been targeted for a shock transfer this summer.
But Napoli appear in absolutely NO mood to entertain any thoughts of selling their star man.
Scotland star McTominay, 28, swapped Man Utd for Napoli for £25million last summer and went on to enjoy a campaign for the ages.
The midfielder established himself as the Italian giants’ main man and has become an icon in the city.
He scored 12 times in the league, the last of those goals being a crucial opener in the final game of the season against Cagliari.
Napoli went on to win that match 2-0 and secured the Serie A title in the process.
McTominay was subsequently named the league’s MVP for the season, the award given out to the best player in the league.
It appears his remarkable form in Italy hasn’t gone unnoticed.
According to Football Italia, mega rich Saudi Pro League outfit Al Hilal made a ‘formal proposal’ to sign McTominay.
The club, currently competing at the Club World Cup, are now managed by Simone Inzaghi.
He left Inter Milan – who were pipped to the title by Napoli – to take up the role at the end of the season.
Al Hilal already have a star-studded squad, with Ruben Neves, Joao Cancelo and Aleksandar Mitrovic among their big name players.
But it doesn’t look like McTominay will be joining their ranks any time soon.
The Italian report says Napoli made their stance clear and didn’t even ‘sit down to discuss’ Al Hilal’s interest.
McTominay is not for sale and the report adds that the player himself is ‘more than happy’ at Napoli and has no desire to move on again.
Despite the title triumph in his first season in charge, there had been serious doubts over Antonio Conte’s future as Napoli boss.
But just when it looked like he’d quit, the former Chelsea and Tottenham manager was convinced to stay by club chiefs.
Conte reportedly demanded assurances that his key stars would NOT be sold.
