SCOTT MCTOMINAY has urged Napoli to swoop on Manchester United again and snap up unhappy England star Kobbie Mainoo.
The midfielder, 20, has fallen down the pecking order under manager Ruben Amorim and has played just 138 minutes in the Prem this season.
With no European football and the Red Devils out of the Carabao Cup, Mainoo looks unlikely to make Thomas Tuchel’s 2026 World Cup squad unless he leaves Old Trafford in January.
He is also frustrated at his current contract situation, which puts him at the bottom of the first team pay scale and shows no sign of being resolved anytime soon.
A source has told SunSport his former team-mate McTominay, 28, has informed Napoli boss Antonio Conte he should try and lure Mainoo to Serie A.
McTominay moved to Naples last summer and 12 goals in his first season, winning the Serie A title, Club Player of the Year and also came 18th in the prestigious Ballon d’Or.

The source said: “Scott has been to see Conte and told him to get Kobbie.
“He’s told him all about his strengths and what an outstanding player he is.
“He knows all about him from his time at United and thinks he would be a great addition to the squad, whether it’s on loan or a permanent deal.
“Kobbie has been brought up the right way at United having been in the academy since he was a little boy.

“He would fit straight in and give Napoli a boost.”
Napoli signed Kevin de Bruyne from Manchester City in the summer, but the 34-year-old is facing a long time on the sidelines after undergoing surgery on a thigh injury last month.
They also have Red Devils striker Rasmus Hojlund on loan from Old Trafford, so the two clubs have established a good working relationship in recent times.
Amorim understands Mainoo’s frustration at not playing and has told him he has long-term plans for him if he stays at the club.
But he knows Mainoo wants to make the World Cup for England, which seems unlikely if he is not playing regularly.
He was not picked by Tuchel for the latest squad.
