THE SPFL have sanctioned a leading Scottish Premiership club.
The punishment comes after they were ruled to have fielded an ineligible player in a recent cup match.

Aberdeen are one of 10 Premiership clubs to have entered a B team into this year’s KDM Evolution Trophy, the Challenge Cup.
This year’s competition is well underway with the tournament adopting a similar format to the one seen in the Champions League and Uefa‘s other top competitions.
Aberdeen B have played four matches, losing them all to Peterhead, Inverness Caledonian Thistle, Montrose and Forfar.
And it’s that most recent game against League Two outfit Forfar that has drawn the ire of the SPFL.

The Loons emerged victorious 2-1 thanks to goals from Stuart Morrison and Kieran Inglis, with Joseph Teasdale hitting back for the Dons side.
B teams are permitted to include up to three over age players.
Against Forfar, Aberdeen handed starts to first team stars Kristers Tobers, Nicky Devlin, Marko Lazetic and Mitchel Frame, the latter of whom is only 19.
While the Dons were already on the receiving end of a defeat, it’s a loss that has now got WORSE without another ball being kicked.
That’s because the club have been sanctioned by the SPFL for fielding an ineligible player in the match.
The governing body haven’t confirmed which player was ineligible or the exact regulation that Aberdeen have broken.
SunSport have contacted the SPFL for clarity.
Nonetheless, the 2-1 scoreline has now been registered as a 3-0 victory for Forfar instead.
The Dons have also been “reprimanded and warned as to its future conduct.”
They have also been hit with a £1,000 fine.
Half of that is, however, suspended until June next year providing they do not breach SPFL Player Regulations again.
