DESPERATE Tartan Army fans are a step closer to finding out if they’ll be able to get tickets for this summer’s World Cup.
Steve Clarke‘s men will be at the major tournament in USA, Mexico and Canada for the first time in 28 years after a thrilling 4-2 win over Denmark.
They’ve been drawn in Group C alongside Brazil, Morocco and Haiti with the games to take place in Boston and Miami in June.
And on Tuesday the Scottish FA have released its ticket guidance to Scotland Supporters Club members – with all three crunch matches massively oversubscribed.
Fifa allocated around 11,500 tickets to the Scottish FA for the three games but the SFA have revealed they’ve received more than 27,000 applications.
It means a very high bar has been set to get some of the more affordable briefs for the fixtures.

The SFA have confirmed a ballot will take place using the SSC’s loyalty points system following the final deadline next Tuesday.
Members get one point for a home game, and two points for away, based on the last 10 home and away Scotland fixtures after that the points drop off.
To date – and this could still change before next Tuesday’s deadline -there have been more than 15,000 applications for category 3 tickets for the three games.
The SFA have only been allocated around 4000 tickets, which means in order to get a ticket for a category 3 game you currently need at least 17 points.
Fans were not able to apply for category 4 tickets through the SFA, instead these will currently go to members who have at least 27 points who’ll be given an access code to purchase the cheapest tickets that will be available for $60 (£45).
The more expensive tickets category 2 and 1 have also been oversubscribed for all three games. These start at around the £200 mark but can cost over £450.
To get a category 2 ticket you currently would need at least 13 points and for category 1 11 points – again this could change between now and next Tuesday.
For those now thinking they might want to change category because they don’t have enough points they will have to act fast.
A statement on the Scottish FA website said: “We have outlined the current applications, alongside the number of points that will guarantee a successful ticket application in each category for each match. Please note that this is only based on current numbers and may change.
“The SSC expect to issue further correspondence prior to the final deadline of Tuesday, 13 January, subject to us receiving additional data from the tournament organisers.
“If Members are going to change their applications, based on this guidance, we would advise them to do this in the next 48 hours if possible, as this will allow us time to receive further data from FIFA and offer final guidance at the end of this week.”
Perhaps unsurprisingly tickets for Scotland games for the latter stages of the tournament are currently undersubscribed meaning if Scotland were to make history an SSC member could get a front row seat to the action.
