COPS are probing an alleged assault of a player during a Scots football match that descended into chaos at the weekend.
The game between Irvine United and Kilwinning United was abandoned on 79 minutes after all hell broke loose on the pitch.
Both clubs have released statements following the disgraceful scenes during the Ayrshire Sunday Amateur Football Association league match on Sunday.
Kilwinning United were leading 5-1 when the referee was forced to call an end to proceedings.
FOUR players had been sent off at the time of the game being axed.
The Kilwinning side allege in a social media post that one of their players was “kicked and punched” by an opponent when “on the deck and not looking.”

A shortened video of the alleged attack has emerged and shows things descending into chaos as players from both sides pile in afterwards.
Another clip shows another player allegedly throwing a punch.
Kilwinning United also confirmed they had recorded footage of what happened.
In their own post, Irvine United acknowledged that an alleged incident had taken place.
“I am are aware that there is a video circulating showing an incident from our home game against Kilwinning United on Sunday.
“While the video has been cut to 21 seconds long to protect other players from Irvine United and Kilwinning United we don’t condone violence from any of our players especially the one who through (sic) the first punch however we feel that one man’s actions shouldn’t jeopardise a full club’s reputation and this will be dealt with in the correct procedure with the league and left in the past.
“This whole incident could and should have been avoided but it will now be dealt with and we await the outcome.”
Police Scotland have confirmed to the Scottish Sun that they are investigating the matter.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 3.25pm on Sunday, 12 October, 2025, officers received a report of an assault on Quarry Road, Irvine.
“Enquiries are ongoing.”
The Scottish Sun has also contacted the Ayrshire Sunday AFA for comment and Kilwinning United with regards an update on their player’s condition.
