THOSE smart brown shoes were gleaming.
But Danny Rohl now knows that this Rangers team needs more than a bit of spit and polish to shine.

The new Ibrox boss was immaculate on the touchline in his shirt and tie, sharp fitted suit and dress footwear.
Unfortunately for the German, though, the players he inherited were nowhere near smart enough in Bergen in yet another abysmally shoddy European appearance.
Rohl may have had the club’s traditional threads on, unlike Russell Martin had throughout his ill-fitting 123 days in charge.
But it’s clearly going to take time for the club’s new manager to get Rangers looking the way he wants it to look.

This European campaign has been nothing short of shambolic so far with the Ibrox side yet to pick up a single point after three games.
That’s clearly not on Rohl who ended up being APPLAUDED by the away fans after the final whistle when he made a remarkable walk across the pitch to speak to them.
But as this latest defeat unfolded the same cannot be said for chief executive Patrick Stewart and more specifically Sporting Director Kevin Thelwell.
There is a reason why the club’s fed-up fanbase have it in for them.

And this was it.
The players Rohl must try and improve in the days and weeks to come can only be improved if they’re good enough.
And right now this team is made up of individuals who are quite simply out of their depth.
That’s largely on Thelwell, the man who signed them, and the club’s hierarchy must now surely think long and hard on whether to continue to back his judgement in the transfer market as they have done until now.
It’s certain that Rohl will demand new quality signings when the transfer window opens but he cannot trust Thelwell to get him the talent he needs, even if he works 25/8.
‘You’re f******g s***,” the home fans chanted over and over again at 3-0 and there would have been Rangers fans tempted to join in.
Rohl never stood still down on the touchline.
He was constantly on the move as he barked instructions and encouragement at his team.
The intensity he wants out on the pitch was only there standing on the side of it.
Those shoes of his are going to need new soles soon if this 90 minutes was anything to go by.
There were moments when he applauded the effort he got.
But at other times Rohl turned away in frustration as he threw himself back down on his dugout seat. Little wonder.
Brann took the lead five minutes before the break.
No10 Emil Kornvig had just threw himself to the ground holding his face to con the referee into showing a yellow card to Djeidi Gassama.
It was embarrassing playacting which made it all the more galling when he was the player who scored to give the Norwegians the lead.
There was a real element of luck about it too with the ball breaking kindly to the Brann star after a mishit shot from Bard Finne.
It had probably been coming, though.
Jack Butland made two really goods saves to prevent the home side from going ahead earlier than they did.
Rangers had moments too, though.
Nico Raskin had a shot charged down and blocked when he didn’t quite get his dig away quickly enough.
Thelo Aasgaard also had a big chance to test the goalkeeper after skipper James Tavernier picked him out inside the penalty box with a pinpoint pass.
But he Norway international swiped at the ball and missed.
There were other attacks that came to nothing when striker Youssef Chermiti had to do better.
The £8million ex-Everton frontman was in the team ahead of Bojan Miovski but his loose touches and weak hold-up play wouldn’t have impressed Rohl.
When one big opportunity did come his way, he fired a header straight at goalkeeper Mathias Dyngeland.
For all that, though, the Ibrox boss would probably have gone into the second-half believing his team were still very much in the game.
And yet ten minutes after the break the team sitting third in the Norwegian league scored a second goal to double their lead.
It came from a free-kick conceded by Oliver Antman out on the left after he lost the ball with another slack touch.
And all it took was a fairly bog-standard delivery into the area to catch the Rangers defence out.
Midfielder Jacob Sorensen probably couldn’t believe his luck as he managed to get between Nasser Djiga and Jayden Meghoma to score.
It was absolutely abysmal from a Rangers perspective.
Rohl made an immediate change by replacing Antman with Mikey Moore and the on-loan Spurs kid almost pulled a goal back with a shot that flew over the top.
Then Connor Barron and Miovski went on for Aasgaard and Joe Rothwell.
Nothing changed, though.
Brann continued to threaten and it was so surprise whatsoever when Noah Holm slammed past Butland to make it 3-0 with 79 minutes on the clock.
That brought another cheeky chant from the home fans who they bawled out: ‘You’re getting sacked in the morning.”

Rohl isn’t.
But Thelwell and Stewart must have been squirming from his seat in the director’s box as some nearby Rangers fans struggled to contain their anger.
