Virgin Islands Sports Ambassador Michelle Smith delivered another standout performance this past weekend at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Collegiate Invitational in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Competing for the University of Georgia, Smith continued to demonstrate why she is one of the most promising young athletes in collegiate track and field.
Smith opened her meet with an impressive showing in the 400 meters, clocking 53.36 seconds to win her heat decisively. Smith returned to the track for the 4×400-meter relay, where she ran a superb third leg, splitting 52.98. Her strong carry helped the University of Georgia secure the relay victory, demonstrating both her individual strength and her value as a key contributor to the Bulldogs’ team efforts.
Next on Smith’s schedule is one of the premier indoor meets in the country: the Razorback Invitational in Fayetteville, Arkansas, set for January 30 and 31. The competition traditionally draws elite NCAA programs and national-caliber athletes, offering Smith another opportunity to sharpen her form early in the season.
With her momentum building, Virgin Islands fans and the University of Georgia community alike will be watching closely as she continues her 2026 indoor campaign.

Virgin Islands Track and Field member Brandon Pemberton delivered an impressive early-season performance at Concordia College on January 24. Competing for Minnesota State University Brandon claimed 2nd place in the men’s 60‑meter dash with a swift time of 6.95 seconds.
Next up for Brandon is the University of North Dakota Open Track and Field Meet on Jan. 30 and 31.
