Summer fun has begun with various sports camps scheduled to run throughout July and into August on Cayman Brac.
The summer sporting action kicked off with a basketball camp, held from 8-11 July at the Layman E. Scott High School basketball court.
The camp saw more than 25 children, aged 7-16, take part.
Lenworth Duhaney, sports instructor of the Sister Islands Sports Unit and basketball coach, told the Compass that the camp had “progressed well”.
“We taught based on abilities, as some people were doing basketball for the very first time. At the end of the camp, a goal was achieved where people understood techniques, position, system of play and rules of the game,” Duhaney said.
He highlighted that the campers performed well, with some being identified to start training with the Brac junior and senior youth teams to compete later this year in Grand Cayman.
