Minister of Education, Sports and Creative Industries, Daryll Matthew, has extended high praise to Antigua and Barbuda’s rising track star Tyra Fenton following her standout performance at the CARIFTA Games 2026.
Fenton delivered one of the most exciting moments of the championships when she captured gold in the Under-17 girls’ 100 metres final at the Kirani James Athletic Stadium. In a tightly contested race, the Antiguan sprinter crossed the line in 11.30 seconds, matching the time of The Bahamas’ Jazae Johnson. The result was ultimately decided by photo finish, with Fenton edging ahead to secure the top podium spot.
