Despite a game-high of 33 points from Yohan Nicholas and a 22-points performance from teammate Sheldon George, St Mary’s Secondary School (SMSS) were beaten by just two points (61-59) by St Anthony’s Secondary School (SASS) in the Senior Boys Division of the Cool & Smooth/Joma Caribbean sponsored Schools Basketball Competition.
Playing at the JSC basketball complex, SASS were led by Kamal Mason with 14 points, Joden Martin with 12 points and Khalil Roberts with 10 points as the all-round performance led then to the narrow but exciting triumph.
In the Senior Girls Division, Lena Mills was on fire for Princess Margaret School (PMS), hitting all 22 of her team’s points to lead them to a 22-10 win over Ottos Comprehensive School (OCS).
Meanwhile, in the Mini Boys Secondary competition, Antigua Grammar School (AGS) beat St Joseph’s Academy (SJA) 46-25. Derick Perez led for the victors with a game-high of 25 points. Juele Bailey top-scored for SJA with 13 points.
