MOTHERWELL start tomorrow’s match against Aberdeen having drawn their first five league games and the Steelmen can bank their first win bonuses by beating the Dons at 23/20.
Jens Berthel Askou led his new charges to a Premier Sports Cup semi-final by beating the Dons at Pittodrie last weekend and I’m confident the unbeaten home side can improve on that performance to win against a club with just 4 league wins in 2025.
Next month’s trip to Hampden to face St Mirren is on the back burner as points become the priority for the new man in charge at Fir Park and ‘Well have to face Celtic, Falkirk, Livingston and Dundee United before thoughts turn back to cup football against the Buddies.
Everything we’ve seen so far from the Danish coach suggests his current group of players can only get better and the the new boss was still critical of the Pittodrie performance despite Regan Charles-Cook’s decisive winning goal.
Aberdeen‘s poor form continued with a less than surprising defeat at Dundee United midweek and with little to suggest that Thelin’s players are about to turn things around, Motherwell can prove to be well worth waiting for to win the 5.45 kick-off.
DUNDEE UNITED are unbeaten in 3 league games since losing their Premier Sports Cup tie at Kilmarnock and Jim Goodwin‘s side can take their revenge on their Ayrshire visitors at 23/20.

GREEN DAY
Team news as Celtic and Hibs both look to keep up their unbeaten league campaigns

‘IN A GOOD PLACE’
Under-fire Gers boss Martin on talks with Andrew Cavenagh after Genk loss
The Terrors’ midweek win over Aberdeen was another step in the right direction after the Dundee derby win was followed by a 3-3 draw at Hibs and United start the day in clear third place behind Celtic and Hearts.
Killie came from behind twice before losing on penalties to St Mirren last Friday but they’ve still to win a league game despite 4 draws and 5 goals in 5 league games Ivan Dolcek can help United cement third place with a third league win in 6 games.
The other side of Dundee head for Paisley to take on ST MIRREN and I’m backing Stephen Robinson‘s players to forget all thoughts of next month’s trip to Hampden and beat Steven Pressley’s side at 8/13.
Dundee and Livingston looked to be heading safely towards landing my draw tip at 11/5 last weekend but Callum Jones‘ stoppage time penalty made it 3-2 for the Dens Park side to register a first league win under Pressley.
Today’s visitors have drawn their two league road matches at Ibrox and Rugby Park but St Mirren’s new look side has been coming together nicely and they can stretch their unbeaten run since losing 1-0 at Celtic to SEVEN matches with another victory.
Arne Slot made 11 changes for LIVERPOOL at home to Carabao Cup opponents Southampton midweek but the champions will be back to full strength to try and make it 6 league wins out of 6 away to Crystal Palace.
The Palace cleaning staff have the FA Cup and Community Shield to keep them busy this season but they’ve failed to beat Nottingham Forest (1-1) and Sunderland (0-0) in their two home league games this season and Liverpool are 2 from 2 on the road at Burnley and Newcastle.
Alexander Isak started against Saints and bagged his first Liverpool goal and while he might have expected to be back on the bench at Selhurst Park, Hugo Ekitike‘s suspension leaves the way open for a start alongside Mo Salah.
Palace are undoubtedly difficult to beat but Liverpool are continuing to find a way of winning matches they’ve looked set to draw or lose this season and 19/20 looks a tremendous price for the away win.
AYR UNITED can register a first home league win by beating Airdrie at 3/5 and I like the 21/10 and 23/10 draw prices for the two other Championship games at Dunfermline and Morton.
Saturday SINGLE
MOTHERWELL landed the bet at 12/5 against Aberdeen last week and Kevin Nolan’s NORTHAMPTON Look a massive price at 10/3 to beat the manager’s old club Bolton in League One.
WEEKEND ACCA
Liverpool 19/20
Dundee Utd 23/20
Hearts 3/5
St Mirren 8/13
Motherwell 23/20
5 teams spread across the top divisions in Scotland and England with all 5 winning paying out at 22/1 with most firms.
CELTIC V HIBERNIAN
Celtic banked a Europa League point from their match in Belgrade this week and the 2/7 champions are back to host a Hibs side fresh from losing a 2-goal lead to draw at Falkirk 24 hours earlier.
Last season’s third-placed side had failed to take advantage of Rangers‘ problems when they lost 2-0 at Ibrox a few days earlier and it may be that those season European qualifiers have taken their toll on 9/1 HIbs.
Brendan Rogers’ side landed our 4/7 HT/FT Celtic/Celtic bet away to Partick in the Premier Sports Cup last weekend and I’m backing Celtic to win with BTTS at a general 6/4 here.
LIVINGSTON V RANGERS Sunday 3pm
Gers’ problems continued to mount with Thursday’s home defeat to Genk but they’re looking to emulate previous incarnations of the side by making it 7 straight wins away at Livingston.
Davie Martindale’s promoted play-off winners have a win and 2 draws from their first 6 games back and they’ll stay a point better off than the visitors if they manage the general 3/1 draw.
Livi are 7/2 and 18/5 to notch a second win of the campaign but Rangers’ domestic form might be half way around turning a corner after last weekend and they look the most likely winners here at 7/10.
HEARTS V FALKIRK
Derek McInnes‘ side are back at Tynecastle for the first time since coming back from 3 goas down to draw with Motherwell and they’ve banked 6 points on the road since then at Livingston and Rangers.
Lawrence Shankland is back amongst the goals as McInnes reshapes the Gorgie side for a potential title challenge and last weekend off should have done them good with Falkirk drawing midweek against Hibs.
John McGlynn will relish taking his new club back to Tynecsatle but 4/1 for the away win could be bigger and I’m putting the joint-top Jambos into the top 5 to win here at 3/5.
MOTHERWELL V ABERDEEN 5.45pm Premier Sports
Jimmy Thelin’s Aberdeen league record has gone from bad to worse since that Scottish Cup win at Hampden in may and the Dons showed little or no sign of improvement as they lost 2-0 at Tannadice midweek.

CAMP UNDER FIRE
Moment rammy erupts between African tribe & angry locals in Scots forest
The red-faced bottom dogs have one home point against LIvingston to show for 5 league games so far and while today’s hosts have still to win a game as well, the Steelmen’s 5 draws have them topping the bottom 6.
Throw in last week’s 1-0 win at Pittodrie which landed our Saturday Single at 12/5 and I reckon tomorrow’s tea-time match is teed up for a home win at a huge value 23/20.
