Sixteen-year-old table tennis sensation, Stuti Kashyap, is enjoying her success on the regional and international scene while representing Antigua and Barbuda.
Speaking on the Good Morning Jojo Sports Show, Kashyap who resides in California, USA, recently won silver in the Girls’ U19 division at the World Table Tennis (WTT) Youth Contender San Francisco in April. She also claimed silver at the 2025 Caribbean Regional Youth Championships in April while winning gold and bronze medals at the WTT Youth Contender Humacao 2025.
“I like how it teaches me stuff like discipline, perseverance and it also improves my concentration but it also shows me the world as I’ve travelled to many countries through table tennis. I actually don’t live in Antigua and this is my first visit to Antigua but when I found out I could be playing for Antigua I was really happy to get the opportunity to represent them at international and regional tournaments,” she said.
“It’s been very cool because I’ve been to many countries and now they know that Antigua also has players, so it’s been nice representing [Antigua and Barbuda] with podium finishes or anywhere in the world,” she added.
The athlete, who has been representing Antigua and Barbuda for a year, earned the right to fly the country’s flag after she and her parents became citizens via the CIP route.
President of the Antigua and Barbuda Table Tennis Association (ABTTA), Charles ‘Chucky’ Bellott, commended Kashyap for the standard she has maintained throughout the year.
“Stuti has been a real blessing for Antigua and Barbuda; her work ethics and she has already made some waves regionally and internationally. Last year, when she started playing for Antigua, she started at 800 or at 860 in the world and new rankings will come out [June 25] but as of today [June 24], she is ranked 65 in the world in under-19, 35 in the world in under-17 and number two in the ITTF Americas,” he said.
Having recently returned from the Caribbean Championships in Barbados, Kashyap will, in short order, leave for Venezuela where she will compete in the WTTF Youth Contender before moving onto the Junior Pan American Games slated for August 9-23 in Paraguay.
