Tajay Gayle earned Jamaica’s sixth medal at the Tokyo World Athletics Championships as he claimed the silver medal in a season’s best 8.34 metres.
Gayle enjoyed a strong series with four of his six attempts exceeding the eight-metre barrier.
However, it was not enough to topple Italy’s Mattia Furlani who took the win in 8.39m.
Yuhao Shi of China was third with 8.33m.
Nikaoli Williams, the other Jamaican in the final, finished ninth overall with a best effort of 7.85m.
