Tapon earned their fourth straight lien on the St Mary’s College Inter-House Sports championship trophy, having led wire-to-wire.
The Tigers amassed 858 points, well clear of Presentation on 713. Abercrombie were next with 677, with Rodney at the bottom of the table with 603.

When the Island Champs boys’ title holders held their 121st sports meet on February 13 at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground, every division had a triple champion, but none stood as tall as Rodney’s Evan Sankar.

The second-former set a Division 5 record for the 600m, erasing Sherqwayne Prudent’s nine-year-old mark of 1:48.5 with a new mark of 1:45.7 for victory.
Sankar ran 43.3 to add the 300m title, having won that event at Island Champs last year. He finished in a time of 4:31.4 in the junior 1200m, despite never having run that event before.

Also in Division 5, Manasseh Sobers took the 150m in 20.0 seconds for Tapon, and Zandre Plante brought the 80m crown back to Abercrombie, with a 10.8-second run.
Keanu Jeffery dominated the Division 4 competition. The Presentation star ran 11.9 for the 100m, 25.2 for the 200m, and 59.2 for the 400m. Jaelen McDonald of Abercrombie ran 2:33.3 to take the top spot in the 800m.

Zayne Henry carried the challenge for the champions in Division 3, winning the 100m, 200m, and 400m. He stopped the clock in 11.8 seconds, 24.5, and 59.7, respectively. Diallo Albert of Presentation, third in the 400m, won the 800m in 2:25.9, and clocked 5:33.8 for the intermediate 1500m.
The Division 2 title went to Joshua Matthew of Abercrombie, winning the 100m in 11.5 seconds, the 200m in 23.0, and the 400m in 54.6 for victor ludorum honours. Teammate and youth footballer Aythan Aurelien ran 2:22.0 to capture the 800m.

In Division 1, Carter Clauzel was the man to beat. He sped to 11.3 in the 100m, 23.6 in the 200m, and 54.2 in the 400m for Presentation. With a time of 2:22.3, Kanil Nelson led a 1-3 effort for Tapon in the 800m. Merkelan Donelly, the bronze medallist in the 800m, ran 5:12.5 to lead a senior 1500m quinella.

Following the heated battle in tug of war, Tapon were elevated as champions once more, with hundreds of Old Boys from as far back as the seventies looking on in appreciation.
The stage is now set for SMC to defend their title ahead of the Easter break at Island Champs.
