Team Antigua and Barbuda got off to a winning start on their tour of the United Kingdom, recording an impressive nine-wicket win over Rollins Cricket Academy on Tuesday when they met at the Frenford Cricket Club grounds.
Tarek Charles hit a top score of 47 to inspire Antigua and Barbuda’s successful chase of the 135 posted by Rollins in their 20 overs. Antigua and Barbuda reached their target at 137 for one. Jaylen Francis was the top bowler for the visitors with one wicket for 14 runs in four overs.
Antigua and Barbuda will next play West Herts Cricket Club in Watford on Thursday in a 50-over fixture.
Tuesday’s playing XI: Brent Joseph Jr., Jared Jno Baptiste, J’Quan Athanaze, Kerique Mentore, Ozan Williams, Tarek Charles, William Pitman, Malique Walsh, Jaylen Francis, Xaveek Toppin & Michael Greaves (Captain).
Reserves: Hosea Roberts, Jayden Charles, Xanden Hobson, Tayari Tonge, Vonde Bowers.
Management team: Winston Benjamin (Coach), Dave Joseph (Assistant Coach) and Brent Scotland (Manager).
During the tour, the young athletes will experience some of England’s cultural and educational attractions. Highlights include a West End theatre production, a visit to Chessington World of Adventures, and a church service at Westminster Abbey.
