By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Team Belize stood proudly among the Caribbean’s finest on Friday during the official team presentation for the Caribbean Cycling Union (CCU) 2025 Junior Road Championships in Bridgetown, Barbados. The ceremony brought together delegations from 18 nations, each introducing their young athletes ahead of the weekend’s competition at the Graeme Hall Course in Christ Church.

Led by Cycling Federation of Belize President Glen Flowers and chaperone Rita Matute née Thompson, the Belizean contingent was warmly received. The six-member squad—Junior Division cyclists Keith Enwright, Devyn Major, Jamaal Tablada, Irene Baki, and Chelsy Gillett, along with Youth Division rider Lliani Choto—took the stage in national colours, drawing applause from fellow teams and supporters.
Also present was Ahmaad Cherrington, recipient of the Alfred Parks Memorial Foundation Award, who joined the delegation in support of youth development and regional unity through sport.

Earlier in the day, the Belizean cyclists completed a recon ride of the Graeme Hall circuit, familiarizing themselves with the 5.7-kilometer course that will host both the Individual Time Trial and Road Race events. The ride allowed the athletes to assess key turns, elevation changes, and surface conditions ahead of Saturday’s opener.
The presentation served not only as a formal introduction but also as a moment of camaraderie and cultural exchange. Athletes mingled and sized up the competition ahead of the weekend’s races.
Representing the Jewel in Saturday’s Individual Time Trial are Keith A. Enwright, Irene Baki, and Lliani Choto. Barbados time (6:00 a.m. Belize time). The full Time Trial event begins at 8:30 a.m. Barbados time (6:30 a.m. Belize time), followed by the Road Race on Sunday at 7:45 a.m. Barbados time (5:45 a.m. Belize time).
With the spotlight now shifting to the racecourse, Team Belize enters the championship weekend with determination and pride. Belize’s cyclists will compete in both events, gaining valuable international experience.
