COVENTRY CITY boss Frank Lampard nearly got choked up when his routine interview took a wholesome turn.
Lampard has the Sky Blues flying this season and they are in prime position to earn promotion to the Premier League.
The Chelsea and England hero was coming to the end of a chat at the Coventry Building Society Arena when his talkSPORT interviewer made a confession.
He said: “I’m actually from Coventry. The impact you’ve had on this team, Frank, is something I’ve never seen before.
“The way that this crowd here, on the road and in the pubs… it’s truly special what you’ve created here.
“Thank you so much for what you’ve done and best of luck for the rest of the season.”

Lampard was visibly moved by the comments and gave a heartfelt response.
He said: “Well, thank you, and that’s an amazing thing that you said there.
“I’m not stupid. I know we’ve got some results and we’re in a better position now, and I realise that fans are happy with that.
“But when you say that personally, you talk about pubs and around the city or whatever it is, travelling to games in our bubble sometimes you miss that. You just try and strive to win every game that you possibly can.

“So when you say that and it feels as big as that, then I really appreciate it and I’ll keep trying to keep you happy and try to do the right thing.”
Lampard’s appointment last November was met with a mixed response after failing to make the cut as a Premier League boss with Chelsea and Everton.
And his job was made even harder by the fact his Coventry predecessor, Mark Robins, became a much-loved figure during his seven-year stint in charge.
But things could hardly be going better for Lampard, whose side sit four points clear at the top of the Championship.
Coventry have only been defeated once in the league, where they have racked up a staggering 39 goals in their first 14 games.
