GARY ANDERSON insists that Luke Humphries is the best player in the world.
The legendary Scot reckons that ‘Cool Hand’ is ahead of current world champ Luke Littler because of his world No1 ranking.

Ando, 54, returns to the big stage this Saturday for his favourite tournament Grand Slam, one event he’s failed to win in his glittering career.
Ahead of the major in Wolverhampton, ‘The Flying Scotsman’ gave his views on big topics in a Q&A with Darts Corner.
When asked who he thinks is currently the best player in the world, he immediately responded with a smile: “That’s easy, you just go by world No1 that’s Luke Humphries.”
Who is the best in Europe, outside the United Kingdom? He added: “MVG (Michael van Gerwen).”

On the best player in North America, he continued: “I’ve not got a blooming clue.”
When prompted whether it could be Jeff Smith, Matt Campbell or Leonard Gates. He added: “Yeah, I’d go maybe Leonard.”
When asked who is currently the best player without a Tour Card, he then didn’t have to think long about his long-time friend and compatriot: “Hendo (John Henderson).”
Anderson then had a long think about who was the best player never to have been crowned world champion and he said: “James Wade.”

About the greatest young talents of the moment, the Scot had to think longer: “All the youngsters, I’ve not got a clue who they are. Danny Noppert, Wessel Nijman maybe. There’s loads of them, there’s a lot of them, cannae pick just one.”
Ando certainly didn’t have to think about who is the best of all-time. The man he beat to win his first world title at the Ally Pally: “(Phil) Taylor.”
Lastly, he was asked about his favourite stage: “I love the Civic Hall Wolverhampton, which is not there now, but that’s my favourite one.”
