DAN BURN couldn’t resist teasing Newcastle team-mate Anthony Gordon after the winger asked why the England squad were playing songs about America in the dressing room on Tuesday night.
The Three Lions qualified for the 2026 World Cup in the US, Canada and Mexico next summer after thrashing Latvia 5-0 and began dreaming of ending 60 years of hurt.
Gordon put England ahead before Harry Kane’s double, with Eberechi Eze adding to the romp after Maksims Toņiševs’s own goal.
There was a party atmosphere inside the England dressing room as music was blared out.
And Burn poked fun at fellow Magpies star Gordon after he failed to realise why all the songs were about America following the big win.
He jokingly told BBC Sport: “First of all, Ant Gordon was asking why we kept playing songs about America, so that’s not a good sign.”

The centre-back went on to describe the atmosphere inside the England camp after qualifying for the World Cup with two games to spare.
He said Tuchel was “pumped” and added he was eager to prove himself at a major tournament for the first time.
Burn went on: “Listen, everyone’s really happy. The gaffer was really pumped. He was saying he’s always dreamt of being at a World Cup.
“It’s the same for all the lads and I know there’s some who have played at a major tournament but I’ve not and I’d love the chance to be able to do it.”

Burn has picked up three England caps since his surprise call-up by boss Tuchel in March.
He made his debut in a 2-0 win over Albania as he started in defence alongside Ezri Konsa.
Burn played the final 19 minutes of England’s win over Latvia this week and will hope to win a spot on the plane to America in June.
Konsa, John Stones and Marc Guehi appear to be Tuchel’s first choice defenders but Burn still has the rest of the season to continue impressing with Newcastle.
He was a key player under Eddie Howe last season as he played 46 games in all competitions and helped the Magpies qualify for the Champions League.
Like Burn, Tuchel was also in good spirits after the win at Latvia as he laughed off mockery from fans.
The German had previously criticised them for not being loud enough in the 3-0 win over Wales last week but took it on the chin when they goaded him in the stands.
He said: “I got a bit of stick and I found it quite creative. It made me smile. It’s British humour and I can take it. No harm done.
“They are here and I said the support in Serbia was brilliant. The support today was brilliant and we are very sure the support in America will be absolutely brilliant.

“We need it. It makes such a difference if you go out as a player or as a coach and you see the fans behind the team and singing.
“We want to make them happy. They should be happy to watch us and they should be able to identify with how we play. We are on our way to build something.”
