BOB MacINTYRE was the target of abuse from American trash-talkers as he failed to complete a morning whitewash for Europe.
The Oban ace and Viktor Hovland roared back from three down after 11 holes to square their match against Xander Schauffele and Patrick Cantlay.
But MacIntyre had to pull away from his tee shot at the short 17th when an American fan was heard shouting ‘you bloody w***er’.
MacIntyre, defending an unbeaten Ryder Cup record from his maiden outing in Rome two years ago, then found the sand before the Americans won the hole.
With Europe leading 3-1 from the morning session, Jon Rahm again led the charge in the afternoon.
He and Sepp Straka beat Scottie Scheffler and JJ Spaun 3&2.

MacIntyre later admitted he should have handled the abuse better.
He said: “You’ve got to expect it out here. It’s what happens when the bar opens at 9.30am and we get round to there.
“I should have done better and handled it better and hit a better shot.
“It was literally in my golf swing, so I stopped because it was loud. The minute there was a bit of doubt it took my whole mind away from the shot.
“But, look, it’s part of the game and this year’s Ryder Cup, I suppose.”
The 29-year-old Scot, who had labelled President Donald Trump as ‘just one more spectator’ in a pre-match interview, had already been the victim of jibes before his first shot.
This year’s US Open runner-up was told to ‘do some cardio’ and asked whether he had ‘ever been for a run’.
Europe’s Vik and Bob duo then made a hash of the final hole, allowing Schauffele and Cantlay to win their match by two.
The majority of the Bethpage crowd had converged on the final match after Europe roared into a 3-0 lead, with all of the first three matches finished by the 15th green.
