TEMPLEGATE takes an early look at the weekend’s big race – and puts up a 20-1 chance who looks sure to be backed before the off.
He also outlines four eyecatchers he spotted from the weekend’s action who could pop up again in the near future.

PADDY POWER GOLD CUP (Cheltenham, Sat)
ES PERFECTO (20-1 each-way with William Hill)
CHELTENHAM turns up the heat on the jumps season with the Paddy Power Gold Cup on Saturday.
Last year’s winner Il Ridoto heads the betting at 9-2 but it’s one lower down the market that makes each-way appeal at a price that’s just too big.
ES PERFECTO has a decent record when fresh and he was last seen running an excellent fifth in the Jack Richards Chase at the Festival in March.
He was up with the pace all the way there and those tactics often pay dividends in this race too.
Alan King’s hope is right at home over this trip and a little bit of juice in the ground is ideal.
You can take 14-1 each-way paying four places with Bet365 or it’s 20s with Hills who are offering three places.

I think both prices will be shorter come off time and he has solid frame claims.
Templegate’s four eyecatchers
CROWNRIGHT (Kempton, November 5)
THIS really nice daughter of Frankel created a nice impression on debut for Ralph Beckett.
She missed the kick before showing good pace to finish a close-up third at a track where it’s not always easy to come from behind.
This mile and a bit further look ideal and she’ll be winning next time out.
KALIF DU BERLAIS (Exeter, November 7)
DON’T write off Paul Nicholls’ five-year-old off despite this modest run.
I’m not sure the soft ground suited and a few from the yard weren’t at their best across the weekend.
He’s a speed horse and wants quicker conditions to shine.
ANGEL GABRIEL (Doncaster, November 8)
HERE’s another Ralph Beckett youngster for the notebook after this excellent debut second.
He was on the wrong stands’ side of the track after missing the break before coming home strongly.
The ground was testing but hopefully will handle quicker conditions too over a mile in time.
JOHNNYWHO (Aintree, November 8)
JP McManus may have stronger Grand National contenders but this was an excellent first run over the Aintree spruce.
He travelled and jumped before getting outpaced late and finishing with plenty left in fifth.
Next month’s Becher Chase over half a mile further could be ideal.
