PUNTERS said the racing gods had ‘created a clone’ after seeing a legendary jockey’s son land his first winner aged 17.
Less than a week after being disqualified in controversial circumstances when finishing second at Newbury, Ryan Moore’s son Toby broke his maiden in style at Kempton on Wednesday evening.

And as luck would have it came in the silks of his dad’s biggest rival.
Because while Ryan is No1 jockey for global powerhouse Coolmore and their trainer Aidan O’Brien, 7lb claimer Toby was riding for Godolphin’s Charlie Appleby.
Sent off 7-4, Toby steered two-year-old filly Valdorcia – who he made his debut on earlier this month – to an easy two-and-a-half length victory in the Class 4 7f contest on the all-weather.
Always up with the pace, the famous Moore drive kicked in two furlongs out and, though the tricky horse hung left in the closing stages, she kept on well to scoop the £5,940 first-place prize.
Impressive enough – but it was what happened after that really got punters talking.
In particular how Toby was a textbook mini-me of his dad.
From the tone of his voice, to the walk, pace of his sentences and even his actual choice of words, it was clear the apple didn’t fall far from the tree.
Moore told Racing TV: “I’d like to thank Charlie and the whole team there, they’ve been excellent. To be allowed to ride the horses is great.

“I’ve always been obviously involved in racing and it’s played a massive part in my life.
“It’s great to always be around horses and it’s led to this.”
Dad Ryan was watching at home as he continues his recovery from a broken leg.
And he had popped on social media to see the reaction to his boy’s big breakthrough, he would have seen everyone saying the same thing.
One punter wrote on X: “If you closed your eyes you would think that was Ryan speaking. Hopefully the first of many.”
Another said: “Wow talk about a chip off the old block even sounds the same! Well done Toby, hopefully the first of many.”
And a third wrote: “Ryan Moore has been cloned.”
