LONDON – Exciting Barbadian forward Thierry Gale has signed a four-year deal for an undisclosed fee with Bolton Wanderers Football Club – subject to international clearance – the English club announced Friday.
The 23-year-old former St Leonard’s schoolboy becomes Wanderers’ sixth signing of the summer following the arrivals of Sam Dalby, Xavier Simons, Charlie Warren, Richard Taylor and Teddy Sharman-Lowe.
The Barbados international started his professional career in Hungary with Budapest Honved, with his performances earning him a move to Dila Gori in the Georgian top-flight back in 2022.
Gale continued to impress, scoring 12 goals in 35 appearances, prompting interest from Rapid Vienna – making him the most expensive Barbadian footballer when signing for the Austrian side in August of 2023.
The forward also spent time on loan at Piast Gliwice in recent months, with his experience across a number of European countries helping to shape his playing style ahead of his move to the Whites.
Now arriving at the Toughsheet Community Stadium as an all-action forward who will add speed and dynamism to Wanderers’ attack this season, Thierry will now link up with the first team squad ahead of the club’s pre-season trip to Marbella.
Gale on signing for Wanderers said: “I’m very happy to be here.
“Bolton are a huge club and when I looked into the club deeper and the high number of quality players that have played here – as well as the stadium and the history – there was no doubt in my mind.
“I have always wanted to play in England, so it is a dream come true to be here and playing for Bolton. I can’t wait to get started.”
Wanderers’ head coach Steven Schumacher said: “I am thrilled to welcome Thierry to Bolton Wanderers.
“He is the type of player and profile that we have been looking for, and I am sure he is going to be someone who the fans will be excited to see week-in-week-out.
“He will offer us something different and is a player we believe has massive potential to grow during his time here. He is quick, explosive and a footballer that gets you on the edge of your seat and we are delighted to have him ahead of our upcoming trip abroad to help him settle into the group as quickly as we can.”
