A total of three goals were scored in three victories across three matches on day three of the week. The matches which were played on Tuesday in the Cool and Smooth Joma Caribbean Patrick A Whyte Cup produced three tightly contested matches, with single-goal margins deciding all encounters as Antigua and Barbuda College of Advance Studies (ABCAS), Princess Margaret School, and Jennings Secondary School each claimed crucial victories as the season winds down.
ABCAS, the only team to beat titleholders PMS this season, edged Irene B Williams Secondary School, 1-0, that was decided by a solitary second-half strike. The match remained goalless through a cagey first half before Kavon Younge broke the deadlock two minutes after the restart in the 47th minute.
PMS won 1-0 over Sir Novelle Richards Academy in another close affair. Like the opening match, this encounter was decided early in the second half. The in-form Allan Henry emerged as the hero for PMS, finding the back of the net in the 48th minute.
The victory continues PMS’ strong form in the competition and keeps them firmly in contention to defend their Patrick A Whyte Cup title.
Jennings Secondary School (JSS) claimed all three points with a 1-0 victory when they upset Ottos Comprehensive School.
Kymani Richards provided the decisive moment in the 62nd minute, breaking the deadlock with what proved to be the winning goal. JSS managed the game well after taking the lead, frustrating OCS’ attempts to find an equalizer.
