By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Belize Premier Basketball League (BPBL) marquee matchup between undefeated San Pedro Tiger Sharks and Corozal Cerros Suns was postponed on Friday night after the Andres Campos Civic Center was not secured for play.
According to sources within the BPBL, the game had been listed as “TBD” (To Be Determined), indicating that the venue and scheduling details were not confirmed despite its public placement on the weekend slate. The league has yet to issue an official statement regarding a rescheduled date.
The matchup was set to tip off at 9:00 pm and could have marked the Tiger Sharks’ tenth consecutive win. San Pedro remain the dominant force in the BPBL with a 9–0 record, excelling both at home and on the road with a +10 point differential. The Cerros Suns (2–5), buoyed by their 2–1 home record, were hoping to capitalize on local advantage and challenge the league leaders.
With playoff momentum in the balance, both teams—and their supporters—await confirmation from the BPBL on when and where this key fixture will be played.
