A TOP flight stadium in one of Europe’s major leagues is unrecognisable after the pitch was battered by snow.
The weather has been causing havoc with Storm Goretti causing chaos up and down the UK.


And it is stretching across Europe with Germany included.
Bundesliga outfit FC Union Berlin took to social media to show a video of their home ground with the grass park not visible due to snow cover.
Another clip posted has fans battling frantically against the elements in order to stop their match against Mainz from being postponed.
The club wrote online: “Our living room Thursday evening entirely in white!

The clash would represent Union’s first competitive match of the year.
A sold-out crowd is expected at the Stadion An der Alten Forsterei for the Saturday showdown – should the match beat the big freeze.

Union Berlin are currently eighth in the Bundesliga standings and are just five points behind Stuttgart, who occupy sixth and European football.
Mainz are rock bottom of the league with just one win and eight points from 15 games.
They need to start finding form if they are to avoid the drop.
Four points separates them from St Pauli in the play-off position while automatic safety is a further two points ahead.
