RANGERS bid to sign Marseille defender Derek Cornelius could be scuppered by interest from Serie A.
According to reports in Italy, top flight new boys Cremonese have entered the race to sign the Canada international.

They’re also reportedly finalising details to sign free agent Jamie Vardy, who was strongly linked with a move to Celtic this summer.
Cornelius would help to bolster Rangers boss Russell Martin’s defensive options at the back.
The 27-year-old has enjoyed a nomadic career so far having played in Canada, Serbia, Greece, Sweden, Germany and France.
He joined Marseille from Malmo in a €4million move last summer.
But, after making 23 appearances last season, he has falling out of favour at the Ligue 1 side.
Cornelius is under contract at Marseille until 2028.
Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano first revealed Rangers interest in Cornelius on Friday.
It’s also been reported by Canadian outlet TSN Sports that the Gers are looking at a possible loan with an option to buy.
But it’s being reported their offer could be hijacked by clubs in Italy.
Respected Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio says Cremonese are interested in Cornelius and they are looking to add him to their defence.
French outlet Footmercato is also saying the Serie A side are looking for a loan with an option to buy deal as well.
And Resto del Carlino via le10Sport claim Lewis Ferguson’s Bologna are also keen on securing his services.
They claim talks took place while Bologna completed a deal to sign Marseille winger Jonathan Rowe.
Meanwhile, at the other end of the park, Rangers have secured the signing of former Aberdeen striker Bojan Miovski from Girona.
SunSport has also revealed the Light Blues are closing in on a £8m deal for Everton forward Yousef Chermiti.
But that could be the catalyst for Cyriel Dessers to leave the club with Panathinaikos making a bid for the Nigerian.
