Despite the October heat, the third week of the CUC Primary Football League and Girls’ Primary Football League held on 4 Oct. delivered plenty of intense action on the pitch.
All regular season matches operate under the ‘Respect Rule,’ which caps recorded scores at a four-goal differential. While play continues if a team leads by four or more goals, any additional goals scored beyond that margin are not officially counted in the final result.
In group B of the Primary Football League, Prospect Primary School secured two wins against Red Bay Primary School in both age groups.
In the under-9 division, a pair of first-half goals gave Prospect Primary a 2-0 victory. The success continued for the boys in purple and yellow in the under-11 game, which finished 3-0.
In other group B under-9 games, Cayman Prep and High School 9A and First Baptist Christian School each achieved 4-0 victories over Footsteps School and SCM Challengers, respectively.
Island Primary 9B also defeated Sir John A. Cumber Primary School 9B by a 4-0 margin.
In the under-11 division of group B, Cayman Prep 11A beat Footsteps School 4-0, First Baptist secured a 3-1 win over Cayman Brac, and Cayman International School 11 Blue topped NorthEast Schools 4-0.
In group A, the under-11 division saw Joanna Clarke Primary School overcome Theoline L. McCoy Primary School 4-0.
Other results included Marie Martin Primary School defeating St. Ignatius Catholic School 2-0, and Cayman Prep 11B beating Grace Christian Academy 4-0.
In the under-9 division of group A, St. Ignatius Catholic won 4-0 over Marie Martin Primary, and in a game rescheduled to 3 Oct., Island Primary 9A edged out CIS 9 White with a 1-0 scoreline.
In the Girls’ Primary Football League, St. Ignatius Catholic won by forfeit against Marie Martin Primary in Group A.
Group B saw NorthEast Schools beat CIS Girls Blue 4-0 and Cayman Prep GA defeat Island Primary 3-0.
The football action will continue with week four games on 11 Oct. across seven venues – the Annex Field, Prospect Primary, Red Bay Primary, Joanna Clarke Primary, St. Ignatius Catholic, the West Bay Town Hall Field, and Ronald Forbes Field in North Side.
