CELTIC’S entry to the Champions League this season is right around the corner – but this time around they’re arriving a little bit earlier.
Unlike previous years, the Scottish champions MUST qualify for a place in Uefa’s flagship competition.
Brendan Rodgers and Celtic had some memorable moments on Europe‘s biggest stage last season having made history on their opening night against Slovan Bratislava and secured big results against RB Leipzig, Atalanta and Club Brugge.
Their journey ended in the first knockout round in agonising style, though, as German giants Bayern Munich dealt a sucker punch in the dying moments of the second leg to progress.
But Rodgers will be hoping for more of the same this year and will be looking to improve on last season’s run in what could be his final campaign in the Parkhead dugout.
However, the Hoops must qualify for the league phase of the tournament first and a potential tricky tie lies in their wait.
While there’s no automatic entry to the league phase this time, Celtic have been given a much-needed boost ahead of the play-off as they WILL be seeded in the draw.
The Hoops enter at the play-off round – the last qualifying round before the league phase.
They are in the Champions Path side of the draw.
