On Sunday, March 8, Bermuda will join the global community in observing International Women’s Day 2026. I encourage everyone across the Island to recognise and celebrate the extraordinary women in our community who continue to shape, strengthen, and uplift our society.
No contribution has been too big or too small.
With this year’s theme #GiveToGain, we are called upon to not only reflect on steps taken to gain equity and opportunity for women in Bermuda, but most importantly, work arduously to ensure that progress continues.
Here is how we can give to gain:
· Give opportunities to women in the workplace
· Create opportunities for women to be mentored; create employment mobility plans which empower women
· Speak up and advocate for women who may not have amplified voices
We acknowledge the invaluable contributions of Bermudian women whose dedication often extends beyond formal titles or recognition. Whether volunteering in our charities, supporting neighbourhood initiatives, serving on boards, or simply offering steady leadership within their families, women form the backbone of our community infrastructure.
It is also a moment to recognise those who have paved the way. Thank you for all that you have done to make Bermuda a better place for women.
To every woman and girl in Bermuda: your contributions matter. Your leadership matters. Your voice matters. The future of our island depends on your continued empowerment and full participation in every aspect of national life.
On behalf of the Opposition, I extend sincere appreciation and respect to the women of Bermuda today and every day.
Happy International Women’s Day 2026.
