HEAVY rain is a fact of life in Scotland in November.
And heavy disruption to organised activities usually follows.
So it was in Scottish football on Tuesday evening when the final round of the KDM Evolution Trophy matches were plunged into chaos.
Having unveiled a new Champions League phase concept to the often reshaped trophy in an attempt to ensure more match time for young players in B teams at Premiership academies, SPFL bosses had been hoping to make the draw for the last 32 of the competition on Thursday.
But the weather caused the postponement of two matches and delayed at least two more as team buses, and in some places their kit, struggled to travel across the country on the sodden road network.
And the fact that outstanding matches involving Hibs B and Montrose, and Dumbarton and Stenhousemuir, could still have a material impact on the final placings means that league bosses had to shelve their plans to make the draw.

It was hardly ideal for the young Easter Road side yesterday, who travelled all the way to Montrose before finding out their game had been postponed.
Things weren’t great for Kilmarnock‘s B team either.
Annan dished out a 6-0 thrashing to Killie’s kids at Galabank, after the match was delayed an hour by the late arrival of the Rugby Park side, and even later arrival of their kit, at the stadium.
For the uninitiated out there, the top 22 teams in the 30-club group made up of ten League 2, ten League 1 and ten Premiership B teams proceed to the last 32.
But no matter what happens we now know that the TEN Premiership B teams will fill the bottom TEN spots.
Celtic B, who fielded Japanese signing Shin Yamada as they went down 2-0 to East Kilbride, are sure of progression.
And they’ll be joined by other Hearts B or Hibs B, with the Easter Road’s youngsters able to leapfrog Hearts B and Celtic B if they can beat Montrose.
Then there’s the top of the table, and the six seeded spots, which Dumbarton could still play their way into should they take care of currently second placed Stenhousemuir.
The second round matches are currently scheduled to be played on the midweek of December 9/10.
