By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Yo Creek United secured their spot in the Orange Walk Football Association (OWFA) Amateur 1st Division Championship Final, advancing on aggregate despite falling 2-1 to Mi Gente in the second leg of their semifinal clash at Louisiana Football Field.

Mi Gente fought hard to overturn their 4-2 first-leg deficit, taking the lead in the 15th minute through Mark Bainton. They doubled their advantage just before halftime, with Osme Ramirez finding the net in the 45th minute.
However, Yo Creek United responded early in the second half as Liam Reyes pulled one back in the 53rd minute, ensuring his team maintained their edge on aggregate.
Despite the loss, Yo Creek United’s 5-4 aggregate victory was enough to carry them into the final, where they will defend their title. However, the reigning champions had to navigate the match without three of their defenders—Luis Chi, Juan Diaz, and Amilcar Jones—who were handed 19-month suspensions the previous week following allegations of racial abuse during the first leg. Their absence put Yo Creek at a disadvantage, but they managed to withstand the pressure from Mi Gente to book their place in the championship match.
The Road to the Final
Yo Creek United will now turn their attention to the OWFA Amateur 1st Division Final, where they will face San Jose Pumas, just as they did in the Opening Championship. San Jose Pumas secured their place in the final after a 2-1 victory over Progresso FC in the second leg of their semifinal, qualifying with a 2-1 aggregate score after the initial 0-0 draw.
With the drama of the semifinal behind them, Yo Creek United prepare for the Final, knowing they will need to overcome their key absences to lift the championship trophy once again. San Jose Pumas will be much tougher rivals this time around.
