By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Yo Creek United claimed a 4-2 victory over Mi Gente in their Orange Walk Football Association (OWFA) Amateur Tournament semifinal clash on Saturday. However, the match was cut short before completion after concerns over racism led to its abandonment in the 83rd minute.

Yo Creek United took control early, with Liam Reyes netting twice in the 12th and 17th minutes. Mi Gente responded in the second half with two goals from Mark Bainton in the 61st and 65th minutes, leveling the scoreline. But Yo Creek United pushed ahead once more, with Allen Castillo and Axel Alamilla finding the back of the net to make it 4-2.
A report of racism during the match prompted officials to temporarily halt the game for discussions and an official announcement. Attempts were made to resume play after addressing the concern, but Mi Gente ultimately opted not to continue, leading the referee to call off the match at the 83rd minute.
Meanwhile, the other semifinal between Progresso FC and San Jose Pumas ended in a 0-0 deadlock, setting up a decisive second leg for both matchups.
The tournament moves forward with the second leg of the semifinals set for Sunday, May 11, at Louisiana Football Field. The rematch between Yo Creek United and Mi Gente will kick off at 3:00 p.m., followed by Progresso FC against San Jose Pumas at 5:00 p.m.
