Wildey Cricket Club once again showed its dominance in local cricket circles by grabbing first innings points to secure the 2025 Barbados Cricket Association (BCA) Elite division Three-Day title against the University of West Indies (UWI) side at the Dash Valley playing field on Saturday.
The third and final day for the eighth and penultimate series scheduled for Sunday was affected by heavy rains across the island, which resulted in no play for all remaining games.
Fresh from capturing the Super Cup 50-over championship last weekend at Kensington Oval, Wildey needed seven points to secure the Three-Day title by reaching an unsurpassable 128 points.
At 97 for 3, UWI looked comfortable with the pair of Shaqkere Parris and Jai Clarke steadily moving along during a stand of 58 between them. Wildey captain Jerome Jones then introduced off-spinner Tariq Oneale into the attack in the 33rd over, which spelled the collapse of UWI.
Oneale removed Clarke for 21 with his first delivery followed by Zion Brathwaite and Demario Richards for ducks, before claiming the prized wicket of the top scorer Parris for 38, as he took four wickets in one over to see UWI collapse to 98 for 7.
The carnage continued as leg spinner Zishan Motara got into the action, claiming the final three wickets to bowl out UWI for 101.
It allowed Wildey to gain maximum bowling points along with first innings points to secure the 2025 title just before the tea interval.
Oneale finished with 4-3 runs in two overs, while Motara picked up 3-10 in 5.3 overs.
Wildey chose to bat again instead of enforcing the follow-on and ended the second day on 60 for 2, an overall lead of 228.

WILDEY 269-9 declared in 62.5 overs (Nimar Bolden 97, Zachary

Sagicor Windward edged out Urgent Care Bayview Hospital YMPC by five runs to capture first innings points at the Beckles Road grounds.
After having to rebuild their innings from 40 for five, YMPC were eyeing first innings points following a healthy contribution of 43 from their captain Jadan Jones.
Jones lost his wicket with the score on 97 for seven, but the experienced Dwayne Smith took over the responsibility in the middle as YMPC clawed their way to 144 for eight.
However, led by spinner Khomari Griffith, Windward kept the fight and eventually bowled out YMPC, with Griffith removing Damian Davis who faced 38 balls for his ten runs and Gary Austin for a duck to see them dismissed for 144.
Smith remained unbeaten on 32, as all he could do was watch from the non-striker’s end as his team fell short of first innings points by five runs.
Chad Williams led the attack with 4-53, while fast bowler Jayden Roberts picked up 3-30. Windward then ended day two on eight without loss in the drawn encounter.
Scores
WINDWARD 149 all out in 41.4 overs (Gary Austin 5-32) and 8-0 in two overs).
YMPC 144 all out in 33.5 overs (Jadan Jones 43, Dwayne Smith 32 not out, Chad Williams 4-53; Jayden Roberts 3-30, Khomari Griffith 2-8).
