KINGSTON, Jamaica — Former St Elizabeth Technical athlete Alliyah McNeil representing North Texas, was a double winner at the Oklahoma Classic in Norman, Oklahoma on Friday, taking the women’s high and long jump events.
McNeil, who set the school record earlier this season, won the women’s high jump with 1.73m before jumping 6.20m to win the long jump event.
Her teammate Fabienne Foster threw a personal best 13.91m to place fifth in the women’s shot put after she had placed fourth in the weight throw with 18.67m.
Meanwhile, at the Indiana State Fairgrounds Invitational at Fall Creek Pavilion in Indianapolis, Kitania Headley ran a personal best 1:30.47 to win the women’s 600m, the eighth-best time ever in the history of the University of Minnesota.
Damali Williams of Hampton University also had a personal best 17.43m for second place in the women’s weight throw at the Camel City Sprints in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She surpassed her previous best of 16.92m set last year.
At the Charlie Thomas Invitational at Texas A&M University (TAMU) Machaeda Linton was second in the women’s long jump with a season’s best 6.29m.
Brandon Lloyd of Arizona State was second in the men’s shot put with 19.00m with Altwayne Bedward of TAMU finishing seventh with 16.69m.
Kimar Farquharson also of TAMU was third in the men’s 400m with 46.31 seconds.
Josh-Ty Brown of South East Louisiana was third in the men’s shot put with 16.46m at the UAB Green and Blue Invite while Gianna Clayton of the University of Memphis was second in the women’s weight throw with 17.53m.
Former Holmwood Technical Champs gold medal winner Cedricka Williams of the University of Tennessee placed third in the women’s hammer throw at the Doc Hale Invitational at Virginia Tech with 18.07m.
