Team Antigua and Barbuda added three more medals to their impressive tally on Tuesday’s final day at the Carifta Swimming Championships, taking their final count to 15 with one gold and two silver at the Pierre Samot Community Aquatic Centre in Martinique.
Ellie Shaw, former Junior Sports Woman of the Year, rounded off a stellar performance at the championships with gold in the 50 meters breaststroke. Shaw previously claimed a gold medal in the 200-meter individual medley. She also won silver in the 200 meters breaststroke, competing in the Girls 15-17 age category.
Also on Tuesday, there was silver for Madison MacMillan when she clocked 4:37.52 seconds in the 400 meters freestyle, Girls’ 15-17 age category.



Previously, MacMillan finished first in the 1500 meters freestyle to grab gold before also winning gold in the Girls 400 meters Individual Medley. The swimmer had earlier won Antigua and Barbuda’s first medal at the championships when she claimed silver in the Girls 15-17, 800 meters freestyle event.
Boys 13-14 competitor, Jamie Tranter, won his second medal of the championships, claiming silver in the 200 meters backstroke with a time of 2:21.15. Tranter had previously won bronze in the 100 meters backstroke.
Previously, there was bronze for Kaylee Warner in the 100 meters freestyle and bronze for Alessandro Bazzoni in the 200 meters freestyle on Monday.
Anya DeGannes competing in the Girls 13-14 age category also created a splash in the pool, winning two gold medals and a silver at the championships.
DeGannes dominated the 200 meters butterfly to win her second gold after she had previously secured gold in the 50 meters butterfly and silver in the Girls 400 Individual Medley.
