The U.S. Virgin Islands football community mourns the passing of Lawrence “Singh” Ramdhansingh, a dedicated servant of the game whose contributions helped shape the foundation of football in the territory.
Ramdhansingh was a former president of the St. Thomas Soccer Association and a valued member of the U.S. Virgin Islands Soccer Federation. His involvement in the game was truly exceptional, serving simultaneously as a player, referee, and administrator during a pivotal era for football in the Virgin Islands.
He notably officiated the first-ever USVISF Big Four Final, a historic milestone in local football. During the late 1970s, his leadership and passion were instrumental in advancing the sport in the St. Thomas region. At a time when the game was still developing, he went above and beyond, bringing together players across islands, including from Water Gut in St. Croix, to strengthen competition and foster unity within the football community.
Ramdhansingh also played a key role in coaching, leading the St. Thomas/St. John team in the inaugural Virgin Islands Soccer Tournament, further contributing to the growth and organization of the sport.
His lifelong commitment reflects the very mission of the U.S. Virgin Islands Soccer Federation, to promote, develop, and unify football across the territory through dedication, integrity, and community engagement.
Lawrence “Singh” Ramdhansingh’s legacy will live on through the generations of players, referees, and administrators who continue to build the game he helped nurture.
