Action in the Antigua and Barbuda Netball Association (ABNA) Village League Series continued on Thursday with a blowout win for Swetes/Roman Hill Village over Grays Green Flyballers by a 36-9 margin in the women’s division.
Goal attack, Ervedine Barnard led the scoring for the victors with 23 of 28 attempts while goal shoot Jamila Fitz sank 13 of 18 attempts. Tashana Nathaniel was the top shooter for Flyballers, hitting four of her 10 attempts with Ophelia Browne and Emily John picking up three of five and two of six respectively.
The win moves Swetes/Roman Hil Village to eight points from their five matches and into the top two on the standings while Flyballers remain on two points.
Also in the women’s division earlier this week, Clare Hall/Potters Crushers handed Flyballers a 51-22 defeat.
Veteran national player, Amey Lake, led the charge for the victors, hitting 39 of her 46 attempts. There were contributions of eight from 10 and four of six from Tyea Ladoo and Deniah Henry respectively. In a losing effort, Ophelia Browne led the charge for Flyballers with 12 of her 16 attempts while Krizia Duncan sank eight of 12 and Chonisha Michael made good on two of her six attempts.
The win was Clare Hall/Potters Crushers’ third in as many matches as they move to six points.
