Antigua and Barbuda’s table tennis standout Stuti Kashyap continued her impressive international run on Thursday when she captured silver in the Under-17 Girls Singles Division at the World Table Tennis (WTT) Youth Contender Caracas held at the Gimnasio de Tenis de Mesa “Elizabeth Popper Francisco Lopez”.
In a thrilling tournament run, Kashyap showcased resilience and world-class skill in getting to the final. The Antiguan edged India’s Prisha Goel in a five-set thriller to win 3-2 before making light work of Venezuela’s Nathacha Dennys Mata Aponte to win by a 3-1 margin in the semifinals. Kashyap however, fell 3-0 to Trinidad & Tobago’s Chloe Fraser, going under 11-6, 12-10 and 11-9.
At 16 years old, Kashyap continues to punch above her weight, consistently proving herself against older and more experienced opponents. This silver podium finish adds to an already stellar 2025 campaign and reinforces her No. 1 International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) Americas ranking in the Under-17 category.
The young player turned her attention to the Under-19 competition which served off on July 3. She will compete in the singles division.
The Antigua and Barbuda Table Tennis Association (ABTTA) congratulated Kashyap on her performance.
