Defending champions Bath United of Nevis began the defence of their under-17 title when they defeated debutants Freetown Ballers 3-0 in the Antigua Cup International Youth Football Tournament on Monday at the Buckley’s Primary School Playing Field.
The visitors were led by strikes from Jaheem Hazel, Romero Hanley and Anthony Stephen.
Also, Newcomers Buckley’s United, who replaced Jets after they withdrew because five of their players were barred from playing due to national under-15 team commitment, started on a bright note with a 3-0 win over Urlings, another first-timer. Dennison Hodge netted twice while Jaden Joseph scored once.
Meanwhile, Old Road were leading newcomers All Saints Attackers 1-0 when bad light stopped play nine minutes into the second half. National under-17 player, Greg Williams, had given Old Road the lead.
