The Mahico Cricket Club produced one of the season’s most dramatic comebacks, defeating tournament favorites Liberta Blackhawks by just one run in the ACB Antigua Parish League Curtly Ambrose Limited Overs Eliminator.
Batting first with only ten men, Mahico struggled to 82 all out, with Norman Bell top-scoring with 22. Wilden Cornwall Jr. was devastating for the Blackhawks, claiming five wickets for eight runs in four overs.
Chasing what appeared to be a simple target, the Blackhawks collapsed dramatically. Player Coach Ajarni Frederick fought with 34 runs, but off spinner Ian Jeremiah produced a match-winning spell of five wickets for just one run to rattle the favorites.
Needing just 2 runs for victory, Frederick was adjudged LBW to Ian Tittle, giving Mahico a stunning one-run victory
The remarkable upset propels Mahico into the Best of Three Finals against Freetown Community Sports Club. The first match will be played in Freetown, the second at Clare Hall, with a potential decider returning to Freetown if needed.
