Spanish football club Lorca Deportiva announced on Wednesday that Antigua and Barbuda’s Sean Tomlinson has joined the outfit.
In a write-up posted on the club’s official website, Deportiva said Tomlinson, who last played for FC Aston Villa in the Antigua and Barbuda Football Association’s Premier Division, “signed with the reserve team of the Preferente Autonómica”.
“The midfielder is a full international with his national team, with whom he has played four matches against the Cayman Islands, Dominica, Cuba and Honduras,” the article said.
Tomlinson was able to convince both the Sporting Director David Navarro and the first team coach Sebas López on-site this summer by attending as assistant coach to Jacques Passy — coach of the Antigua and Barbuda team — in two qualifying matches for next year’s World Cup to be held in the United States, Mexico and Canada. This is a commitment by the club at all levels to the talent of football in the Caribbean, which is in rapid expansion.
The Antiguan thus becomes the first confirmed player for the Lorca reserve team and will be under the orders of Juan Carlos Cuadrado and Roque Victoria.
