Jennings Tigers secured their place in the Sir Vivian Richards Thursday League final with a dominant nine-wicket victory over double defending champions Rising Sun, setting up a showdown with New Winthorpes on Thursday.
Rising Sun managed 141 for nine from their 20 overs despite efforts from Junior Henry (28) and Delon Wills (22). Tigers’ bowling attack was led by Dimitri Lucas (3/31), with Xavier Freeland (2/18) and Shane Burton (2/15) providing excellent support to restrict the opposition.
The Tigers chase was absolutely spectacular as the opening pair of Skipper Dahri Francis and Michael Dover demolished the Rising Sun bowling attack, reaching the target in just 11.3 overs. Francis remained unbeaten on 72 from 37 balls, while Dover contributed an unbeaten 54 from 30 balls as Tigers finished on 142/1.
The amazing feat sends Tigers into the final with momentum and confidence after ending Rising Sun’s bid for a third consecutive title. Both Tigers and New Winthorpes, who are newcomers to the Thursday League, will be making their first ever appearance in the final, promising an exciting encounter between two debutant teams eager to claim their maiden title.
