Antigua and Barbuda’s All Saints United opened their Group C campaign of the 2025 Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Club Shield with a comfortable 3-1 win over St Maarten’s SCSA Eagles on Sunday at the Lary Gomes Stadium in Trinidad.
All Saints were ahead in as early as the ninth minute when Kendukar Challenger struck form close range. The Antiguan men doubled their advantage in the 17th minute via a Tiquan Isaac strike. National striker and chief marksman in last season’s local Premier Division, Raheem Deterville, gave United an additional cushion on the stroke of halftime when he struck in 45+3.
Eagles pulled a goal back in the 63rd minute but United were able to keep them at bay for the remainder of the contest. The win moves United to second on the standings behind Suriname’s SV Transvaal only on goal difference. Transvaal had beaten Wolues FC 3-0 in their Group C opener to sit at the top of the standings with a positive three goal difference.
United dominated their opening clash, enjoying 56 percent of the possession while tallying 10 shots on target in contrast to Eagles’ two shots on target. The Antiguan men will next face SV Transvaal on Wednesday in a 2:00 pm encounter.
All Saints United qualified for the CFU tournament after having won the 2023/24 Premer Division title on goal difference over Grenades FC who finished as runners-up in last year’s CFU tournament after having won the 2022/23 Premier Division title.
