The 10th edition of the LL Supply Ltd & Total Imports IBSC Tape Ball T20 Classic bowled off in spectacular fashion at Powells on Sunday, with four matches across two venues: Antigua Grammar School and Powells.
In the day’s marquee encounter, defending champions PEL Dredgers survived a thrilling challenge from Hanse-on Security Tech, winning by the narrowest of margins – just one run.
After winning the toss and electing to bat, Dredgers posted 161 all out from their allotted 20 overs. Mervin Higgins led the charge with a well-crafted 49, while Glenton Williams contributed a valuable 30 and Jedidah Martin Jnr chipped in with 21. For Hanse-on, Ondre Peters was the pick of the bowlers, claiming four for 23 from his four-overs spell, with Kerry Mentore supported well with two for 31 runs.
The chase proved to be a heart-stopping affair. Hanse-on Security Tech came agonizingly close to an upset, finishing on 160 for eight, falling just one run short of victory. Kerique Mentore top-scored with 28, while Ajharie Joseph remained unbeaten on 27 and Derrick Mourillon added 25. The Dredgers’ bowling attack was led by Jedidah Martin Jnr, who bowled an economical spell of four overs for 20 runs and two scalps, with Glenton Williams claiming two for 25.
Brysons Bullets produced the most emphatic performance of the day, crushing PMS by nine wickets in a one-sided affair that showcased their batting firepower.
PMS, after winning the toss and choosing to bat, managed only 112 runs before being dismissed in 15.4 overs. Melvin Charles fought valiantly with 51, and Morton Browne contributed 34, but the rest of the batting lineup crumbled under pressure. Vaughn Charles was devastating with the ball for Bullets, taking three for just 12 runs, while Shaquan Reifer claimed three for 22 runs in 3.4 overs.
Bullets reached their target of 117 in just 5.5 overs, losing only one wicket in the process. Jahiem Norde blazed his way to 45, George Elvin remained unbeaten on 37, and Deran Benta finished on 18 not out, as the trio made light work of the modest target.
In a match reduced to 15 overs due to a damp spot on the pitch, Pelican Safari Tours VIP Squad defeated Easy Pickings Mix Up by seven wickets in convincing fashion.
Easy Pickings Mix Up, batting first after winning the toss, posted 109 for seven from their 15 overs. Karl Simon led their efforts with 33, supported by Kemar Christian (25) and Isiah Viville (17).
VIP Squad’s response was swift and decisive. They knocked off the target in just five overs, losing only 3 wickets. Elroy Francis was the star of the show, smashing an unbeaten 50, while Elijah Peters remained not out on 33. For Easy Pickings, Kirk Douglas was the pick of the bowlers with 2 wickets for 38 runs from his two-over spell.
Koconut Car Rental Buckleys 3J’s completed the day’s results with a comfortable 7-wicket victory over TG’s Welding & Fabrication Underdogs.
TG’s Underdogs, after winning the toss and batting first, were dismissed for 113 in 15.5 overs. Michael Harillal top-scored with 25, while Rondell Winter (18) and Azim Panlall (15) provided support. Rodney Williams was the standout bowler for Buckleys 3J’s, taking four wickets for 23 runs in fourovers including a maiden, with Charanlal RamJohn and Gregson Merrick each claiming two wickets.
Buckleys 3J’s chased down the target with relative ease, reaching 116 for three in 9.5 overs. Kenrick Scott led the way with 37, Kadeem Henry contributed 32, and Steve Martin remained unbeaten on 19. Hughon Tonge was the pick of the Underdogs bowlers with 2 wickets for 32 runs.
