National and Leeward Islands women’s cricketer, Shawnisha Hector, has been awarded a Senior Women’s West Indies Retainer Central, her first since 2021. The Antiguan all-rounder, who was given a Women’s Academy contract in 2024, has been listed amongst 13 women cricketers across the region offered retainer contracts set to commence October 1.
Hector made her senior team debut on November 1, 2019 here at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in a One Day International (ODI) against India but lost her development contract in 2020.

Rising star and wicketkeeper-batter, Jewel Andrew, also received his first CWI contract when he was listed among three players now under Starter or Development Contracts. The others are fast bowlers Jediah Blades and Johann Layne, both of Barbados.
Antiguan fast bowler Kelvin Pitman was awarded a Men’s Academy contract while stalwart and ace fast bowler, Alzarri Joseph, retained his Senior Men’s contract. Joseph was recently ruled out of the Test series against India due to a lower back injury and has returned home to recover.
On September 30, Cricket West Indies (CWI) announced its full stale of contracted players for the 2025/26 season.
Contracts have been offered to both West Indies Men’s and Women’s players following the 2024/25 evaluation period, with selections based on performance and projected involvement in upcoming fixtures. This contract cycle also includes the continuation and expansion of multi-year agreements, designed to reward consistent performers, provide greater security, and strengthen CWI’s ability to retain top talent.
